Katia Ledoux

The French mezzo-soprano Katia Ledoux came to Austria as a child, where she grew up trilingual (French, German, English). In the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons, the mezzo-soprano was a member of the International Opera Studio at Opernhaus Zürich, where she sang numerous roles and created her own crossover song recital (Opera goes Pop) on the main stage. Katia is an internationally sought-after opera singer and has received several awards. These include the North Frisian Song Prize of the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of Education, Science and Culture (2021) and, most recently, the Oratorio Song Prize at the prestigious Concurso Internacional de canto Tenor Viñas in Barcelona (2022).

Her most important roles and sung parts include Geneviève in Pelléas et Mélisande (Debussy) at De Nationale Opera in Amsterdam (2019), Cornelia in Giulio Cesare (Handel) at the Moskva Philharmoniia in Moscow (2021), Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus (Strauss) at the Volksoper Wien (2022), Ježibaba in Rusalka (Dvořák) at the Staatsoper Stuttgart (2022) and Bersi in Andrea Chénier (Giordano) at the Royal Opera House in London (2023).

Since September 2022, Ledoux has been a member of the ensemble of the Volksoper Wien, where she caused a sensation and international media coverage in early 2023 when, in a historically unique performance of Orpheus in the Underworld, she replaced an ill male colleague and took on the title role in addition to her part in the same production. In the 23/24 season, Katia Ledoux takes on the role of Carmen in the production Carmen by Moved by the Motion, which will premiere on 4 May in the Schiffbau-Halle.
