Stephan Stock
Stephan Stock was born in 1985 in Rheinfelden, Switzerland. He studied acting in Bern at the Hochschule der Künste and in Zurich, graduating in 2012 with a Master of Arts from the ZHdK. Stock is co-founder of the multi-award-winning theatre group vorschlag:hammer, which regularly works at venues such as Ballhaus Ost in Berlin, Roxy in Basel and Ringlokschuppen Ruhr in Mülheim an der Ruhr, and with which he has been continuously funded by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia since 2015. With vorschlag:hammer he has won prizes at the 100 Grad Festival in Berlin, the Körber Studio Junge Regie in Hamburg and the Best OFF Festival in Hanover, and has twice been in residence at the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf and the Schlosstheater Moers as part of the Doppelpass project of the German Federal Cultural Foundation. He is also co-founder of the science fiction theatre collective yuri500, which won the audience award at the Treibstoff Festival in Basel. He is also co-founder of the paradox collective neue Dringlichkeit, which produces political theatre and actions in Zurich.
He represented Gessnerallee Zürich in the 2014 edition of the Freischwimmerfestival on the theme of "Intimacy" with the solo "Theatre of Embarrassment". Since then, Stephan Stock has produced theatre under this label in Zurich, mainly at the Gessnerallee and the Rote Fabrik. His works include "Stephan Stock spielt Ulysass", "The Trap" and "Mobbing Clowns". Since August 2020 he is artistic co-director of Theater Hora in Zurich, the most famous integrative theatre in Switzerland, where he conceived and accompanied the works "Es war keinmal oder das Märchen von der Normalität", "Das kranke Haus" and "Riesenhaft in Mittelerde" (invited to the Theatertreffen).
