Tosh Basco
Tosh Basco is a movement-based performance artist whose practice employs improvisation as mode of survival and world-building. Her work explores the thresholds where becoming meets representation. Adamant about the visceral experience of live visual performance, her work shows how the movement of form communicates what remains impenetrable in through images, and through language. Her performances have been presented in a variety of venues and frames - between museums, performance and dance houses and nightclubs: Amongst them are Venice Biennale, the Sydney Biennial, the Whitney Museum of American Art, MoMA PS1, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, MOCA Los Angeles, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, ICA London and Berghain. Tosh Basco has toured with Mykki Blanco, and collaborated with Korakrit Arunanondchai, Hood by Air, and Wu Tsang, who she joined to continue the collaboration as Moved by the Motion (together with Josh Johnson, Asma Maroof, Fred Moten, and others) at Schauspielhaus Zürich.
