"Whatever I do, it's no use when the house is on fire.”
Greta Thunberg at the World Economic Forum in Davos a year ago
At a first conceptual meeting in August 2020, Alexander Giesche, the director of AFTERHOUR, said that the planned premiere in spring 2021 would be the first premiere after the lockdown. Now, a year after the premiere, the pandemic seems to have disappeared from everyday life in Switzerland. And yet the feeling of an aftermath is still a long time coming.
The Afterhour is the time after a party; it can only be shared with others and often happens at sunrise. Together, the threshold between high and hang over is entered. But the AFTERHOUR in the Box of the Schiffbau is more than a collective comedown. It is the attempt to experience an after in a time in which the idea of an After is slowly experiencing a dawning farewell.
