Davos State of the World / Weltzustand Davos (State 4)
In January each year, more than 3,000 CEOs, presidents, representatives of NGOs, and managers of funds worth billions meet in the little town of Davos, which is closely guarded by the Swiss military during the event. Over 300 programmed sessions and countless private meetings form the backbone of the “World Economic Forum” (WEF), for which practically every salesroom in Davos empties its window display in order to rent out its premises to a corporation or global bank for those four days. With experts and people affected by the event, “Weltzustand Davos” (State of the World Davos) examines this exclusive forum – which has set itself the goal of improving the state of the world – providing insights into the parallel worlds it engenders in the snowy alpine town. The production completes the “Staat 1–4” series, in which Rimini Protokoll examines post-democratic phenomena in four productions at different theatres.
