Birth Marks Windows Blue
Somewhere in the woods: A young man is in search of his past. From a dire and gloomy home Ljosha flees to his grandfather. It's been years since they last met. Yet the more Ljosha is trying to shed light on his own past and that of his grandfather, the more he is pushed off by the latter. Somewhere in the city: A couple shield themselves off from the rest of the world. Leo is a painter, and Lena snatches his brush to paint the windows dark. The protagonists' search for identity and origin leads to unexpected encounters and discoveries. Author Sasha Marianna Salzmann, one of the most remarkable dramatists in recent years, was awarded the Kleist Prize for emerging young playwrights for this piece with the German title „Muttermale Fenster blau“. She has been author in residence at Berlin's Gorki Theatre since 2013.
