Ines Kleesattel
Ines Kleesattel is a philosopher, art and cultural scientist and witchcraft expert. She prefers to work on the boundaries of academic institutions (or in their hedges), is currently Professor of Art & Design Education at the HGK Basel and is committed to witchcraft learning that overrides (or flies over) disciplinary boundaries through feminist care and performative work.
At the center of her hexpertises are queer-feminist care-sweeping arts. In other words, contemporary counter-spells and w(e)der appropriations practiced since the 1960s, which critically and transformatively invert ancient misogynistic and anti-Semitic witch imaginations (such as Heinrich Kramer's Hexenhammer or Hans Baldung Grien's proto-pornographic graphics).
At the Stuttgart Academy, Kleesattel was a visiting professor in the MFA Body, Theory and Poetics of the Performative; in Zurich, she taught Aesthetic Cultures at the ZHdK for many years; in Vienna, she worked at the Angewandte, among others. She is the editor of Witchy Wits*** Mit situierten Sinnen und widerspenstigen Wissen (open access here).
