Alexis Pauline Gumbs

ALEXIS PAULINE GUMBS, born 1982, is a poet, scholar, activist and author of the forthcoming biography The Eternal Life of Audre Lorde. She holds a doctorate in English, African and African American Studies and Women and Gender Studies from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and has written numerous books, including Undrowned. Black Feminist Lessons from Marine Mammals (2020), Dub. Finding Ceremony (2020) and Spill. Scenes of Black Feminist Fugitivity (2017), and is co-editor of Revolutionary Mothering. Love on the Front Lines (2016). Gumbs serves as editor of the journal Feminist Studies and is co-founder of the Mobile Homecoming Trust.
