Nils Kahnwald
Nils Kahnwald, born in Marburg in 1984, studied acting at Berlin University of the Arts, where he met René Pollesch and Antú Romero Nunes, and whom he has worked with ever since. During his studies, he took over several guest roles at Deutsches Theater Berlin and Maxim Gorki Theater. He was an ensemble member at Schauspiel Frankfurt from 2009 to 2013, where he worked with Christopher Rüping for the first time in The Great Gatsby. He continues to have a close working relationship with Christopher Rüping, appearing in productions of his such as Hamlet, as well as Drums in the Night and Dionysos Stadt, both of which were invited to Berlin Theatertreffen. He was an ensemble member at Schauspielhaus Zürich where he acted in The Ten Commandments (directed by Karin Henkel), and Love/No love (directed by René Pollesch), before moving on in 2017 to the Münchner Kammerspiele under the artistic direction of Matthias Lilienthal. In 2019, he was voted Actor of the Year by the magazine Theater heute.
