With the opening of the Schauspielhaus Zürich under the new directorship of Benjamin von Blomberg and Nicolas Stemann, we are dropping the additional “jung” (young) and incorporating the Junges Schauspielhaus into the theatre as a whole. Young people – in the audience or as performers – will, at every level, become a part of the Schauspielhaus Zürich. The common mission of the theatre-education and communication teams, as was well as the directors and dramaturges of the Schauspielhaus Zürich, is to enhance the theatre-going experience of every individual with a variety of concepts and formats: introductions before performances, preparatory and follow-up workshops, rehearsal visits, talks, guided tours of the theatre and much more. Through mediated, performance-related workshops, we bring together students and theatre pieces, and create opportunities to explore the plays’ themes and artists’ concerns.
So there is something on offer all year round, the Schauspielhaus Zürich is focusing on attracting a young audience and expanding the programme for secondary-school students. In addition, a family play suitable for audiences aged eight and above will be developed once a year. The co-intendant Nicolas Stemann is making a start with his adaptation of Snow White.
For all the productions there will be related events that can be booked together with your theatre visit. These will be finalised in the coming weeks, as the departments are still being established.
All recommendations for plays and the detailed theater pedagogical offers can be found in the Theater&Schule booklet. If you would like to receive the magazine, please send us a short e-mail to: antonia.andreae [at] schauspielhaus.ch
